Curriculum
Spanish 1
Covers simple conversation and vocabulary. Students who complete the course will be able to express themselves in the present tense and conjugate regular and irregular verbs. No prior experience with Spanish is required.
Spanish 2
Develops vocabulary, expands on the present tense, and introduces basic past tense and reflexive verbs. Some familiarity with Spanish, including the present tense is assumed.
Spanish 3
This course includes the indirect and direct object pronouns, imperfect tense, present perfect tense and the future tense. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand a variety of expressions, vocabulary, and cultural aspects of the language. This course assumes: basic vocabulary, present tense verbs and familiarity with the past tense
Intermediate Spanish 1
Develops an understanding of the differences between preterite and imperfect verb tenses, the uses of por and para, and the formal and informal commands. The class emphasizes pronunciation, vocabulary and reading. By the end of the course students should be able to read, write and converse in Spanish
Intermediate Spanish 2
Covers the use of the present subjunctive mood and advanced grammar. Students will learn how and when to use subjunctive in adverb, adjective and noun clauses. During the course, students will be expected to work on advanced grammar.
Intermediate Spanish 3
This course introduces the use of the past subjunctive, conditional tense and relative pronouns. The course includes various exercises in reading, writing and conversation.
Advanced Spanish Conversation and Pronunciation
This class will be designed with the active participation of the individual student
